Job Purpose

Analytical MIS reports in detail and Audit committee( RPT & proposed RPT, CG-exposure & projections , Compliance certificate & Projections Vs Actuals & projections reports ) providing for Management for timely decision making Compliance certificates, Profitability & Debt exposure statements, investment incomes & finance expenses reconciliations, Agreements, wealth tax & Audit queries. Gateways -Financials, Advance tax, Tax Audit & ETDS returns, TDS payments Audit queries.

The purpose of this position is to lead and manage the organization’s direct tax function, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations while optimizing tax efficiency. The role is critical in safeguarding the company’s financial interests through effective tax planning, risk management, and litigation strategy. By aligning tax practices with business objectives, the Manager – Direct Tax contributes to the organization’s overall financial health, regulatory reputation, and strategic growth in the energy sector.

  • Team Size Managed: Directly manages a team of 2–4 tax professionals and coordinates with cross-functional finance teams.
  • Geographical Scope: Responsible for direct tax compliance across multiple states in India and select international jurisdictions (if applicable).
  • Number of Tax Filings Annually: Over 50 filings including income tax returns, TDS returns, and other statutory submissions.
  • Litigation Cases Handled: Manages 10–15 active tax litigation cases at various appellate levels.
  • Stakeholder Engagements: Regular interactions with 8–10 internal departments and 4–5 external agencies.

Education Qualifications

Chartered Accountant

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in direct taxation.
  • Experience should include:
    • Tax compliance and reporting
    • Handling tax assessments and litigation
    • Exposure to transfer pricing and international taxation (preferred)
    • Working in or with companies in the Energy or Infrastructure sector (preferred)
