Theoria Medical is seeking an experienced VP of Data to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our data team, and strategy. This role will ensure our data architecture and platforms meet company demands, stringent governance policies and allow for strategic decision-making across the organization.

Role Overview

The VP of Data will be the executive owner of Theoria’s data strategy and ecosystem. This leader will build and scale the teams and platforms that power our clinical decision support, operational analytics, and value-based care initiatives. They will partner closely with engineering, product, clinical, and operations leaders to transform data into a strategic asset and competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute an enterprise data strategy that supports Theoria’s clinical, operational, and financial goals.
  • Establish robust data governance, privacy, and security practices compliant with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Oversee the design and operation of a modern, cloud-native data platform, including pipelines, warehousing, and real-time streaming.
  • Drive best practices for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency across data infrastructure.
  • Lead a cross-functional data science group to deliver predictive analytics, machine-learning models, and AI capabilities that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with product and clinical teams to bring AI solutions from research to production.
  • Build a best-in-class analytics organization that provides actionable insights to executives, clinical leaders, and partner facilities.
  • Define key metrics and dashboards that measure value-based care performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor high-performing teams across data engineering, data science, and analytics.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making throughout the company.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data leadership roles, with at least 5 years managing multi-disciplinary data teams.
  • Deep expertise in cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), modern data engineering tools, and advanced analytics.
  • Demonstrated success deploying AI/ML solutions in healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data standards (HL7/FHIR preferred).
  • Excellent executive communication skills and a proven ability to influence across technical, clinical, and business stakeholders.
