TIER 3 MAINTENANCE TECH Critical Care Team Member
Brewster Plant
Work Schedule: Day Shift 6am-6pm; Monday - Wednesday with every other Thursday 8am to 4pm
The *Tier III Preventative Maintenance Critical Care Technician maintains the efficiency of packaging machinery and equipment in a continuous improvement-based environment, while also creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Position is responsible for setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining packaging manufacturing equipment and machinery under the critical care team. This position Inspects equipment for proper functioning, performs preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance per manufacturer's specifications. Additionally, this position will diagnose equipment malfunctions and make repairs or adjustments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This Preventative Maintenance Team position is accountable for the efficient installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment under the critical care team.
- Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of packaging equipment during planned downtime
- Performs simple machinist duties and responsibilities as needed for corrective maintenance and rebuilds
- Works in team with Sanitation and Packaging operators to perform critical care maintenance.
- Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of packaging machines
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments of packaging machines
- Performs regular preventive maintenance on machine and equipment within plants critical care program
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Detects faulty operations and defective material; reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
Mechanical:
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a packaging equipment; Scales, Baggers, Seasoners, Case Packers, Case Erectors.
- Capable of performing all minor mechanical rebuilds and assists in all major rebuilds.
- Can perform set-up procedures on packaging production plant equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs most mechanical issues on plant packaging equipment.
- Understands operation of most auxiliary support systems.
Electrical:
- Able to replace all like-for-like electrical components and set them up.
- Troubleshoots some electrical issues using proper tools and techniques.
- May require assistance with device replacement setup.
Requirements: *Must have completed the Ramsay Technical Assessment and successfully achieved Tier 3
3 years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience; experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings), product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs), troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns), and reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)
