YugabyteDB retains the power and familiarity of PostgreSQL by pairing its trusted API with a precision-engineered, distributed, cloud-native architecture. Even better, it’s 100% open source. Many of the world's leading enterprises are migrating from legacy RDBMSs (like Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2) to YugabyteDB, to meet their mission-critical app demands.

We're seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our team at Yugabyte. As a key technical partner to our enterprise customers, you'll be instrumental in helping them design, build, and deploy robust, high-performance distributed database solutions using YugabyteDB. You'll work closely with customers' engineering teams, building trusted relationships and ensuring their success from initial design through production.

This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a deep technical background, who excels at designing complex systems and translating business requirements into scalable architectural blueprints. While you will be hands-on with the technology, your primary focus is on providing expert guidance and ensuring the customer's architectural choices align with their long-term goals.

The Role

As a Solutions Architect at Yugabyte, you will be the primary technical advisor for a portfolio of our largest, most strategic customers. You will guide them on their architectural journey with YugabyteDB, ensuring they realize maximum value from their investment. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that blends deep technical expertise with strategic customer relationship management. You'll act as a bridge between the customer's technical teams and our internal teams, including Support, Engineering, and Product Management.

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Guidance: Design and present solution architectures that meet customer business and technical requirements, leveraging YugabyteDB and other components in a modern data stack.
  • Technical Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key technical stakeholders, from developers to C-level executives.
  • Proof of Concept (POC) and Pilot Support: Lead and manage the technical aspects of customer POCs and pilot projects, ensuring successful outcomes and clear paths to production.
  • Activity Orchestration: Coordinate internal resources (Support, Engineering, and Product) and external partners to deliver seamless customer experiences. Facilitate regular technical cadences and communication flows to keep all stakeholders aligned and informed.
  • Technical Deep Dives: Conduct deep-dive sessions with customers to understand their specific use cases, data models, and performance requirements, providing expert recommendations for YugabyteDB deployments.
  • Problem Resolution: Act as a technical escalation point for customer issues, working cross-functionally with our Support and Engineering teams to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Content Creation: Develop and share best practices, reference architectures, and technical whitepapers to help both customers and internal teams.

Recommended Requirements

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, or Solutions Engineer.
  • Proven track record of designing and deploying complex database systems for large enterprise accounts.
  • Experience with SaaS, PaaS, or DBaaS products is a must.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep expertise in database technologies, specifically distributed SQL, NoSQL, or relational databases, is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, including CAP theorem, sharding, and replication.
  • Proficiency in cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, microservices, and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with distributed databases such as CockroachDB, TiDB, Spanner, or Cassandra is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, database design, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go) and CI/CD pipelines.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a natural collaborator.
  • A passion for helping customers succeed and a genuine curiosity about technology.
