About Us
We live by the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, and our mission is to empower healthy and thriving communities. Ounce is a first-of-its-kind community-based service model. Enabled by technology, we provide services to residents of affordable housing properties, improving engagement and outcomes at scale.
We are looking for creative and kind teammates to join us in this journey.
About The Role
As an Operations Manager at Ounce, you’ll lead day-to-day service delivery across a growing portfolio of affordable housing communities, with an initial focus on properties in the Central U.S. and the Northeast. You’ll manage a team of community navigators (and potentially team leads) and ensure a high-quality, standardized experience for residents.
We are strategically spreading our management capacity across time zones to support teams nationally. For this role, we’re specifically looking for someone based in the Central Time Zone (preferred) or Northeast, to align with our service delivery in those regions and support cross-country coordination.
This role also presents an exciting opportunity to help shape how services are delivered in affordable housing communities, blending in-person, virtual, and tech-enabled approaches. You’ll collaborate closely with both Community Navigators working onsite and with our virtual operations team and help define how new technologies and service models can improve resident outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who brings both affordable housing expertise and a builder’s mindset—someone who understands the context of HUD, LIHTC, or affordable housing investment, but who also thrives in the pace of a fast-growing, nimble organization.
In This Role, You Will Be A:
- Diligent operator – You love managing processes and keeping the trains running on time, especially when it comes to people-powered services. You balance daily troubleshooting with progress against the bigger picture.
- Coach with clarity – You motivate others and support your team in hitting performance goals through high expectations and clear, supportive guidance.
- Systems thinker – You understand the nuances of coordinating virtual and in-person work, and you’re energized by working on that challenge.
- Data-maniac – You use data and evidence wherever possible to inform strategic decisions and team coaching.
Who We’Re Looking For:
- Experienced people manager – You've successfully led teams delivering in-person, hybrid, or tech-enabled services, with a track record of high-quality and standardized delivery at scale.
- Affordable housing background – You’ve worked within HUD, LIHTC, housing operations, affordable housing investing, or tech-enabled housing services, and you understand how this landscape impacts residents and service delivery.
- Tech-savvy operator – You’re nimble with technology and energized by experimenting with new tools that make services more effective and efficient.
- Builder mindset – You've worked in early-stage or evolving organizations and know how to build while doing.
- Mission-driven – Your past work reflects a strong alignment with Ounce’s purpose and values.
- Central or Northeast time zone-based – You're located in CST or EST, with the ability to travel occasionally to properties in your region and nationally as needed.
- Fearless navigator – You thrive in ambiguity and excel at building clarity for yourself and others as things take shape.
