Job Description
This senior-level management position will assist the VP of Student Finance in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the administration of student financial aid programs. The Executive Director of Student Finance manages Student Finance Analysts responsible for the disbursement and refund of student aid funds, R2T4 and institutional refund calculations, stipend processing, and other related activities.
- Supervise Student Finance Analysts on the COD, Refund, and Disbursement Teams. Monitor performance and initiate appropriate performance management activities as needed.
- Work closely with the Senior Student Finance Analyst – G6 and the Director of Quality Assurance and Training to resolve processing issues and facilitate the timely and accurate processing of student financial aid funds.
- Monitor workflow and volume for COD Team, Refund Team, and Disbursement Team to ensure timely and accurate processing of files.
- Develop and provide training for analysts on the COD, Refund, and Disbursement teams as necessary to facilitate optimal staff performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies as necessary to resolve student file issues or complicated processing issues.
- Ensure compliance with financial aid regulatory requirements as they apply to federal, state, and accrediting agencies rules pertaining to student aid programs and operations.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Assist VP, Student Finance with development of institutional policies and procedures regarding the processing, disbursement, and refund of student financial aid funds.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of Cal Grant SB 70 reports, audit reports, and other analytical reports as needed.
- Attend required annual conferences/webinars/trainings
- Other duties as assigned
*Salary Range $85k-$135k DOE
*This position is Hybrid in Newport Beach, CA
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the administration of student financial aid in a higher education setting that includes delivery of Title IV funds.
- Minimum 3 years of experience at a Director level or above in a higher education setting.
- Ability to demonstrate effective and professional communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Strong computer skills, proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve discrepant or inconsistent information
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience with an enterprise student information system for delivery of financial aid funds such as Anthology, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
