Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Versant Media is seeking a highly experienced and strategic VP, Infrastructure and Cloud Operations to lead the teams responsible for our mission-critical technology infrastructure. This is a pivotal role that will oversee the development, maintenance, and reliability of our infrastructure across both traditional broadcast environments and modern digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud services, network engineering, and on-premises compute and storage. This person will lead a team of directors and engineers to build a scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure that supports our live broadcast, digital streaming, and corporate operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture
- Set the strategic vision for all infrastructure functions, including Cloud, Network, Compute & Storage, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term business goals.
- Direct the planning and implementation of a hybrid cloud strategy, balancing on-premises broadcast needs with the agility of public cloud environments.
- Develop and manage the departmental budget, including technology spend, vendor contracts, and resource allocation.
Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee the design, deployment, and management of scalable and secure infrastructure for websites, mobile applications, APIs, and broadcast media workflows.
- Lead a unified team responsible for Cloud Operations, Compute & Storage, and Network Engineering, fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Establish and enforce operational best practices, including automation, monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery.
Team Leadership & Management
- Manage and mentor a team of directors and senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Direct the Network Engineering function, which includes Unified Communications, Wireless Engineering, and LAN/WAN engineering.
- Partner with the Cyber Security, Engineering, and Product teams to provide infrastructure solutions that enable the secure, scalable, and reliably performant delivery of content.
Qualifications

You are a strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operational excellence with long-term infrastructure planning. You thrive in a dynamic, high-stakes environment and have a reputation for building and leading high-performing teams that consistently deliver reliable and innovative solutions.
- Extensive experience in technology leadership, with a strong background in infrastructure and cloud operations.
- A history of progressive responsibility in leadership roles, managing multi-disciplinary teams including Network, Cloud, and Compute & Storage.
- Proven ability to manage both on-premises and public cloud infrastructure, with specific expertise in migrating and managing complex enterprise workloads.
- Deep expertise in core infrastructure domains including network engineering (WAN/LAN, perimeter security, and wireless), cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and enterprise compute and storage.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead a team through high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
