The Development Quality & Integrity (DQI) leader is accountable for Development Quality in the highly regulated aerospace field, with responsibility for specific business portfolios within Mission Systems. This position will lead a team of experienced design quality engineers to ensure assigned portfolio is meeting identified quality goals, and to prepare and execute containment and countermeasures when those goals are at jeopardy.

To be successful in this role:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans, guidelines, and policies to achieve quality targets and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Quality Management: Direct the development and implementation of organization-wide projects and processes to enhance overall product quality and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and escapes
  • Data-Driven Insights: Oversee the collection and analysis of quality data from various sources to develop long-term quality strategies and programs
  • Process Improvement: Lead process analyses to ensure compliance with quality standards, making recommendations for enhancements as needed
  • Talent Development: Develop and mentor team members, establishing a strong talent pipeline to support current and future business needs
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Foster collaborative relationships with functional and business leaders to promote a transformative quality organization aligned with business objectives

What You Will Do

  • Leads team of quality professionals in support of development program quality assurance
  • Collaborates with various lifecycle functions to ensure start-to-finish quality assurance, including Value Stream Leadership, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Test Engineering, and other functions
  • Applies CORE operating system into daily practice both within the DQI team and in partnership with other functions across all of Mission Systems
  • Develops and leads implementation of organization projects and processes to ensure overall quality is continuously improving
  • Drives quality improvement processes to ensure on-going improvements in compliance issues, audit findings, defects, and escapes
  • Directs collection and analysis of quality information from multiple sources to develop long-term quality strategy and programs
  • Directs process analyses, ensuring quality standards are met and making recommendations for quality improvement
  • Establishes, oversees, and coordinates quality policy and practice
  • Recruits, retains and develops talent
  • Seeks out and incorporates lessons learned and industry best practices
  • Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mentoring/leading a team
  • Prior knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement, Lean, and 6 Sigma Tools

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Active or Existing Secret Security Clearance Preferred
  • Knowledge of quality requirements knowledge and their applicability for development programs
  • Experience in tailoring and estimating developmental quality assurance activities that span engineering disciplines and supporting functions
  • Knowledge of and experience in AS9100/ISO-9001 requirements, CMMI appraisals and aerospace standards such as AS9145, DO-178, and DO-245
  • Knowledge of and experience in design quality assurance & risk reduction methods such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Approval Process (PPAP), AS9115 for software audits, and others
  • Manages Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and the development of recommendations for corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
