- Our Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classes.
About The Department
The Cloud Capability function operates under our Corporate CTO, playing a strategic role in enabling and accelerating cloud adoption across Aberdeen. We work in close partnership with business verticals and corporate functions to deliver fit for purpose cloud platforms, practices, and processes that support modernisation while ensuring our environments remain resilient, secure, and efficient.
Internally the function is made up of Cloud Infrastructure Architecture, Cloud Platform Engineering, Development Enablement and FinOps teams. Together we drive forward the modernisation of our technology environments, reducing friction to cloud adoption embedding automated governance, and empowering teams to build and operate in the cloud with confidence and agility.
About The Role
As Lead Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our enterprise cloud strategy and roadmap with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure. It requires deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and a proven ability to navigate complex, federated environments, driving alignment across diverse business areas and corporate functions.
The focus is on building and executing a forward-looking cloud roadmap, championing cloud-native adoption, and embedding robust architectural standards. Success hinges on strong stakeholder engagement, technical leadership and mentoring a team of cloud architects to ensure consistent, scalable, and secure cloud adoption.
You will architect enterprise-grade infrastructure across networking, compute, storage, identity, and observability in collaboration with security, platform engineering, operations, and FinOps teams to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the cloud roadmap aligning modernisation and migration with business, technical, security, and compliance goals.
- Define and enforce architectural standards and best practices across well-architected cloud pillars.
- Drive automated governance and compliance guardrails through collaboration with security, platform engineering, FinOps, and operations teams.
- Lead design sessions, architecture reviews, proof-of-concept projects, and evaluation of new cloud technologies and vendors.
- Architect enterprise-grade Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including networking, compute, storage, identity, and observability.
- Manage and mentor a team of cloud infrastructure architects, fostering cloud skills and adoption of cloud-native architectures, automation, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure as Code.
About The Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), with strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure preferred.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity management, security, and compliance across platforms.
- Proven experience in modernising core infrastructure services on cloud environments.
- Skilled in architecting cloud solutions aligned with Well-Architected Framework principles.
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Kubernetes, Docker), serverless, and microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
