The Opportunity
Allegro MicroSystems is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between product design and high-volume manufacturing, ensuring that our semiconductor products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards. The Product Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving product yield, and resolving technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle, contributing significantly to Allegro's operational excellence and market leadership.
What You Will Do
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality and reliability.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing data, including yield, defect rates, and process parameters, to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with design, test, and process engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products (DFM - Design for Manufacturability) and resolve any production-related issues.
- Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing process documentation, work instructions, and control plans.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts for manufacturing excursions, yield detractors, and customer returns.
- Evaluate and qualify new materials, equipment, and processes to support product enhancements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Support the transfer of new products from development to mass production, ensuring smooth ramp-up and stable yields.
- Provide technical expertise and training to manufacturing operators and technicians.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address quality issues, implement preventive measures, and drive overall operational improvements.
- Generate regular reports on manufacturing performance, yield trends, and project status for management review.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Five or more years of experience as a Product Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or in a similar role within the semiconductor or electronics manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, assembly, test operations, and merged technology wafer fabrication processes.
- Proven experience in C++ programming, test solution development (methodology, software, hardware), and debugging.
- Solid grasp of analog and digital integrated circuits and circuit analysis.
- Familiarity with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), including wafer sort and final test, with a preference for Teradyne/Eagle test equipment experience and yield enhancement.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and other quality improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is a plus.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment, and demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills for effective teamwork across diverse teams.
