We are seeking an HPC Category Manager to lead the end-to-end strategic sourcing of high-performance computing (HPC) hardware and infrastructure.
This role will focus on sourcing compute, storage, networking, accelerators (e.g., GPUs, CPUs), and other HPC-related technologies critical to our business. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, IT, legal, and finance teams to ensure strategic alignment, cost efficiency, and vendor performance
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for HPC infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, and accelerator technologies.
- Partner with HPC, IT, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, define sourcing strategies, and deliver high-value category plans.
- Drive competitive RFx processes, conduct supplier negotiations, and perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses.
- Develop and manage relationships with leading HPC vendors, ensuring strong commercial and operational performance, including contract renewals and performance tracking.
- Negotiate agreements with a focus on pricing, licensing (where applicable), SLAs, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor emerging HPC technology trends and market dynamics to refine category strategies.
- Support CAPEX/OPEX planning, budgeting, and reporting for HPC spend.
- Oversee purchase order (PO) placement for HPC-related acquisitions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
- Strong knowledge of HPC hardware components (compute, GPUs, CPUs, storage, networking).
- Proven track record in contract negotiation and managing complex vendor relationships.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to analyze cost models and TCO.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and risk management
- Experience in the energy, technology, or semiconductor industry.
- Familiarity with open-source licensing and software models used in HPC environments.
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with sourcing HPC hardware.
- Professional certifications in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
