Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Disability Support Worker with experience in supporting people to achieve vocational goals to join our team in the My Life, My Future program. In this role, you will work with small groups of three participants (1:3 ratio), providing tailored support to help each individual build the practical skills needed for future employment. Your focus will be on delivering hands-on, inclusive, and person-centred experiences that empower young people with disabilities to succeed in the workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vocational Goal Setting & Support: Work closely with groups of three young people with disabilities to identify their career goals and design personalised strategies to help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in their chosen vocational pathways.
- Program Development: Collaborate with the Coordinator, My Life, My Future, to create and implement inclusive vocational programs that are designed to cater to the individual abilities, interests, and aspirations of participants. These programs will include real-world, hands-on learning experiences to ensure skill development in practical settings.
- Industry Collaboration: Partner with local industries, peak bodies, VET/TAFE/RTOs, and other relevant stakeholders to organize immersive learning activities, including industry excursions, job placements, and specialized workshops that promote skill-building and career readiness.
- Community & Labor Market Engagement: Actively seek opportunities for young people with disabilities to engage in community-based and labour market activities, helping them build valuable experience and gain essential vocational skills.
- Person-Centred Support: Ensure that all support is delivered in a person-centred way, engaging young people with disabilities in planning their activities and setting goals. Each participant’s unique needs, interests, and aspirations will guide the support provided.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Use the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework to provide consistent, respectful, and safe support, particularly for individuals who may demonstrate behaviours of concern.
- Evaluation & Feedback: Contribute to the evaluation of the program's effectiveness, gathering feedback to ensure the vocational programs are meeting the needs of young people and identifying areas for improvement.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including case notes, progress reports, and incident reports, in accordance with Nadrasca Policies, Procedures, and relevant legislation.

About You:
- You have a passion for empowering young people with disabilities and helping them achieve their career goals.
- You have experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in the areas of vocational training, skills development, and career pathways.
- You are skilled in working with small groups, with a strong ability to tailor support to meet the individual needs of each person, maintaining a 1:3 support ratio.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with participants, their families, and external stakeholders.
- You are adaptable, organized, and able to respond to the unique needs of young people with disabilities in a flexible and respectful manner.
