The Role:
Blue Owl Japan is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Junior Sales Associate or Senior Associate to join its Private Wealth team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in financial services who are eager to deepen client relationships, drive sales growth, and expand their expertise in private markets and alternative investments. The successful candidate will play a key role in distributor engagement, investor outreach, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively drive sales activities by developing, maintaining, and deepening relationships with salespeople at existing distributors.
- Conduct high-touch sales outreach via phone, email, and in-person visits to distributor branches across Japan.
- Independently schedule and lead teach-in sessions at distributor branches; frequent domestic travel required.
- Accompany distributor salespeople on visits to prospective investors and provide product expertise.
- Be accountable for sales growth and activity at the branch level, ensuring consistent engagement and follow-up.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Marketing, Client Solutions, Legal & Compliance, and Product Strategy to ensure seamless execution of business initiatives.
- Build strong product knowledge in private markets and Blue Owl’s offerings to serve as a trusted resource for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Stay informed on the competitive landscape and evolving trends in Japan’s private wealth and alternative investment sectors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in asset management or securities firms; experience in private markets or alternative assets is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFA, CAIA, or MBA is a plus.
- Native-level Japanese and fluent English communication skills.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Highly motivated, independent, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to coordinate with global teams.
