Formulation and Process Development Scientist - Drug Product Development (R&D)

We are looking for a motivated Scientist to join our Drug Product Development team at Alvotech in Stockholm. In this role, you will contribute to the development of liquid and lyophilized biologic (biosimilar) drug products. You will work closely with a team of dedicated scientists, supporting the design, development, and transfer of robust formulations and manufacturing processes, enabling successful drug product development from lab to manufacturing scale. Key Responsibilities:

• Perform activities related to the development of robust liquid/lyophilized drug product formulations and manufacturing processes, including excipient selection, formulation characterization, vendor qualification, and process characterization to support process performance qualification (PPQ).
• Design, perform, and report formulation screening experiments, process development studies, stability studies, and biophysical characterization according to Quality by Design (QbD) principles and internal policies.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of freezing/thawing, mixing, filtration, filling, lyophilization, and other drug product manufacturing process steps.
• Participate in technology transfer from process development to manufacturing, and support process performance qualification as required.

Qualifications:

• Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) in biotechnology, biophysics, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical science, biochemistry, or another related discipline.
• Hands-on experience working with proteins in a biochemical laboratory.
• Experience in biopharmaceutical drug product development, including formulation development, protein stability/biophysical characterization, and drug product manufacturing processes (including lyophilization), is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills, with the ability to work proactively and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Candidates with several years of relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Scientist role.
