Your Role
The Lead Engineer (f/m/d) in Hattersheim directs the daily activities of the Operations Site Team and vendors, ensuring the Data Centre is operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with SLAs and KPIs. Acting as the main point of contact, they manage all reactive and planned maintenance tasks, utilize the CMMS system effectively, and ensure incidents are resolved promptly.
What You’Ll Do
- Ensure all site works comply with safe systems of work, permits, and statutory requirements.
- Provide first-line response to building services infrastructure issues and escalate to specialist contractors when needed.
- Oversee completion of reactive and planned maintenance using CMMS and ensure adherence to SOPs, SLAs, and KPIs.
- Coordinate incident management, produce reports, and act as first-line supervisor for specialist service contractors.
- Operate and monitor building management systems (BMS), responding appropriately to alarms and ensuring optimal system performance.
- Support the Site Management Team and Data Centre leadership in communication with customers, incident escalation, and resource planning.
- Supervise sub-contractors to ensure compliance with permits, RAMS, MOPs, and site rules.
- Assist with technical audits, checks, and continuous improvement initiatives focusing on safety, efficiency, and energy optimization.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the site team, including coordinating staff coverage for holidays, sickness, and out-of-hours escalation.
- Contribute to financial and operational processes, including ordering, repairs follow-up, and procedure development.
What You’Ll Need
- 3–5 years’ experience in mission-critical mechanical and electrical environments, ideally in IT/Telecoms or data centres.
- Strong knowledge of key data centre infrastructure components (UPS, generators, cooling systems) and critical building systems (electrical, mechanical, building fabric).
- Recognized formal electrical training (e.g., City & Guilds) and AP15/HV Authorized Person certification.
- Ability to read and work with electrical and mechanical diagrams; hands-on experience with maintenance systems.
- ITIL and/or ServiceNow experience preferred; able to prepare and present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills, breaking down complex issues and prioritizing critical details.
- Experience mentoring and supporting site engineering teams.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Strong customer focus, reliability, and alignment with organizational values (teamwork, excellence, success).
- Adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively across multiple disciplines and teams, handling change and pressure.
