Your Role

The Manager Engineering Operations (MEO) (f/m/d) in Hattersheim oversees all aspects of a data centre’s critical infrastructure, ensuring safe, high-quality operations without impact on internal or external customers, while guiding engineers, suppliers, and contractors on-site. In addition, the MEO drives continuous improvement through standardized processes, manages complex issues as second-level support, and collaborates with experts in design, construction, and manufacturing to ensure operational excellence and site safety.

What You’Ll Do

  • Support the Data Centre Manager as deputy, providing strategic and operational leadership.
  • Lead and mentor Lead Engineers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors to achieve operational excellence.
  • Oversee all mechanical/electrical operations, maintenance, and energy management on-site.
  • Act as the Senior Approved Person, ensuring safe execution of complex maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISO certifications, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage incidents and change approvals, serving as the escalation point for service disruptions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in preventive and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Utilize CMMS tools for accurate reporting, maintenance tracking, and documentation.
  • Oversee project handovers and ensure quality of installations from implementation to operations.
  • Build strong vendor relationships and enforce QHSSE standards for safety, quality, and compliance.

What You’Ll Need

  • 3–5 years of experience in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments, ideally within IT/Telecoms or data centres.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure (UPS, generators, cooling systems) and building systems design/operations.
  • Ability to read and work with electrical and mechanical diagrams; hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and maintenance systems (ServiceNow experience a plus; ITIL Foundation certification preferred).
  • Skilled in preparing and presenting technical information to diverse audiences, including customers.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills with experience guiding engineering teams.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused mindset with strong decision-making under pressure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to break down complex issues and prioritize critical details.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence, with detailed knowledge of campus-wide infrastructure.
