Aero Alliance - Principal Engineer – Aero Gas Turbines

Job Description Summary

Aero Service Technologies Malaysia is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead all the technical activities of our Port Klang facility, linked to L4 overhaul of LM2500 modules and turbines. Reporting to the Central Engineering Team, this role will be involved also cross-sites standardization activities, engineering support to support the gate process, and strategic initiatives that will be put in place to sustain the growth of Aero Gas Turbines Service business within Asia-Pacific region and specifically in Malaysia.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: lead, coach and inspire a team of mechanics/engineers, managing their skills growth within the Technical Career Path.
• Work Scope Definition: oversee the definition of work scopes for aeroderivative gas turbines (LM2500) and review contractual documents up to Kick Off Meeting.
• Technical Support: provide support to Channels’ Application Engineering for non-standard bids. Be the reference point in the shop for any technical related question on LM2500 product family.
• Shop Standardization: provide support on policy and work scope development, gate process optimization and QMS assessment across sites.
• Engineering Consultancy: provide guidance on strategy engineering initiatives for rBOM creation and development, unsubstantiated part number implementation and non-standard scope of work  analysis.
• Operational Integration: participate in Shop Operative Rhythm activities (weekly induction reviews, engine reviews) to adjust team priorities according to production needs.
• Continuous Improvement: serve as a technical reference point for continuous improvement and root cause analysis on shop processes (Safety, Quality, Lean Production).
• Document Review: review technical documents (Kick-offs, Visual Inspection Report, Final Report) to ensure they meet customer expectations and adhere to company workscope policy.
• Technical Interface: act as the technical interface of the Port Klang shop towards Design Engineering (GE Aerospace) and other Aero Alliance functions (Product Leadership, Productivity, Industrialization).
• Strategic Project Support: actively support strategic initiatives that will be put in place to sustain the growth of Aero Gas Turbines Service business within Asia-Pacific region and specifically in Malaysia, by contributing technical expertise and leadership as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience with aero engines overhaul/engineering.
• Previous experience as a manager/team leader.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex technical information.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Fluency in English.
• Solution-oriented problem solver.

Desired Characteristics:

• Prior knowledge/experience with the following engines is a plus: LM2500, LM6000, LM9000, CF6-6, CF6-80, GE90-115B.
• Previous experience dealing with customers is considered a plus.
