Job Responsibilities

The Senior Azure Cloud Support Engineer is a critical role responsible for providing advanced technical support for our clients' mission-critical Microsoft Azure environments. With deep expertise across Azure's core infrastructure pillars—Compute, Networking, Kubernetes (AKS), and Databases—you will be the final point of escalation for complex technical challenges. Your role will involve troubleshooting, problem resolution, and proactive guidance to ensure the stability, performance, and security of our customers' cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a senior subject matter expert for Microsoft Azure, providing advanced technical support and resolving complex, high-impact customer issues.

Diagnose and troubleshoot intricate issues related to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including cluster configuration, pod scheduling, ingress/egress, CNI, and service mesh integrations.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex Azure Networking problems involving Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, Load Balancers, Application Gateway, VPN Gateway, and ExpressRoute.

Provide expert-level support for Azure Compute services, including Virtual Machines (Windows/Linux), Virtual Machine Scale Sets, and App Services, focusing on performance, availability, and configuration.

Assist clients with operational and performance issues on Azure database services, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQL, and Managed Instances.

Perform deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA) and create detailed post-mortem reports to prevent future occurrences.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level support engineers.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, best practice guides, and knowledge base articles.

Collaborate with Azure Product Groups and our internal engineering teams to resolve platform-level bugs and implement solutions.

Communicate effectively with customers, managing expectations and providing clear, concise technical explanations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience in a technical role such as Cloud Support Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Systems Administrator, or Infrastructure Engineer.

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): Proven, hands-on experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting AKS clusters and containerized workloads. Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts, Docker, and Helm.

Azure Networking: Deep expertise in Azure networking components and architecture. Ability to design and troubleshoot complex network topologies.

Azure Compute: Extensive experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS compute resources, including VM performance tuning, high availability configurations, and diagnostics.

Azure Databases: Solid experience supporting and troubleshooting at least one major Azure database service (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, etc.).

Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows and/or Linux).

Demonstrated ability to write and debug scripts for automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Support Engineer Specialty.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar certification.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM Templates, Bicep, or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Participates in a shift rotation.
  • General web application performance and reliability
  • Defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products
  • Large scale applications and deployments
  • Methodical approach to troubleshooting complex problems
  • Implement and maintain strategies for backup, security, and redundancy
  • Adopt, implement, and document repeatable change processes and best practices
  • On-call and available to independently monitor requests after-hours/weekends.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the customer and management.
  • Client facing experience supporting enterprise customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
