Job Description
Montgomery College has an immediate opening for an Associate Senior Vice President for Advancement and Community Engagement (ASVP) in the Advancement and Community Engagement Division. This is a grade 39, exempt position. The position is located at Central Services, Rockville. Montgomery College (MC) promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Community Engagement (SVP), the Associate Senior Vice President for Advancement and Community Engagement (ASVP) functions as the deputy to the Senior Vice President and serves as the key facilitator and conduit of cross-departmental work and collaboration within the Advancement and Community Engagement Division. The ASVP represents the Advancement and Community Engagement Division and the SVP at various college and external stakeholder meetings, including meetings of the Board of Trustees, the Montgomery College Foundation, the PIC MC Foundation, the Alumni Association, community engagement roundtables, and at varying county and state partner meetings and events. The ASVP is also responsible for the leadership and supervision of the following departments: community engagement, grants and sponsored programs, special events, and the Collective Impact Institute at Montgomery College. This position serves on a number of internal committees and leads cross-functional strategic projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the key facilitator and conduit of cross-departmental collaboration within the Advancement and Community Engagement Division, and alongside respective colleagues across the College.
- Serve as the lead on developing, monitoring, and reporting on metrics for the Division as they relate to the strategic plan and Advancement and Community Engagement goals.
- Represent the College at various external events and meetings throughout the County, as well as regionally and nationally.
- Implement and oversee best practices in advancement and community engagement operations, leading to greater efficiency, cross-departmental collaboration, and data accuracy and accessibility.
- Keeps abreast of higher education policies, regulations, and legislation affecting Montgomery College.
- Work closely with the SVP for Advancement and Community Engagement and other division leadership on budget planning, forecasting, and strategic planning related initiatives.
- Recommend and oversee the implementation of new processes and procedures within the Advancement and Community Engagement Division.
- Serve as a strategic partner and provide oversight of all grants and sponsored programs related initiatives and activities, ensuring fiscal sustainability of grant funded programs, compliance with state and federal regulations, and remain apprised of ongoing shifts and changes in regulations pertaining to grant-funded activities.
- Serve as a strategic partner for the Montgomery College Foundation and the PIC MC Foundation Executive Directors, and assist in the development and execution of bold advancement programs focused on the current and future needs of Montgomery College and its student populations.
- Track, monitor, and report on the success and outcomes set forth in Montgomery College’s collegewide community engagement plan. Work closely with the Director of Community Engagement and other key internal and external stakeholders to successfully carry out the plan with strategic intent.
- Provide guidance and support for special events, particularly Commencement, and monitor internal and external constituent engagement for, and at such events. Make recommendations, where applicable, leading to greater impact and outcomes.
- Offer guidance and leadership support for the activities carried out by the Collective Impact Institute at Montgomery College, and serve as a strategic thought partner to internal and external stakeholders responsible for collective impact initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public relations, communications, or a related discipline.
- At least seven years of administrative experience in advancement and community engagement, including grants management, communications, and community or public relations, or a combination of related fields, preferably and within higher education or K-12 education.
- At least four years of progressively responsible leadership and supervisory experience.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and strategic projects.
- Thorough knowledge of and training in financial and strategic planning, as well as higher education administration.
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures, goals and mission, and State and County operations and agencies as they relate to advancement and community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in relationship and community building with key stakeholders within and outside of the College.
- Ability to effectively communicate, and comfort presenting to small, medium, and large groups.
- Strategic thinking, analytical problem-solving ability, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in advancement and community engagement.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, set deadlines, and develop various strategies in directing, collaborating on, and coordinating projects.
- Ability to anticipate challenges and propose innovative solutions.
- High proficiency in using Microsoft suite and other technologies to effectively and efficiently lead and carry out divisional operations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Leadership experience in a higher education environment.
Hiring Range: $131,751 – $181,143 annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $230,535. Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
