Summary

The IT QA Manager role is responsible for leading a team of Quality Analysts and Test Automation Developers to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with organizational goals. This position oversees test planning, automation strategy, and cross-functional testing efforts, while driving continuous improvement and innovation in QA practices. Responsibilities include managing resources, fostering a culture of psychological safety and growth, and ensuring quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.

What You'Ll Do

  • Coordinate system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) and support production releases to ensure successful deployments.
  • Communicate QA status, risks, and issues to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain QA strategies, automation frameworks, standards, and best practices to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality IT solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional testing efforts, including end-to-end system testing, data validation, and business rule verification.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software applications and IT systems.
  • Manage team resources, including capacity planning, staffing, and sourcing.
  • Achieve strategic goals by empowering others and aligning QA efforts with business priorities.
  • Lead and mentor Quality Analysts and Test Automation Developers, cultivating a growth mindset and a passion for innovation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Oversee the strategic direction of test automation initiatives to ensure scalable, efficient, and high-quality testing practices across projects.
  • Foster a culture of trust and openness that encourages team members to express ideas, ask questions, and learn from mistakes.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in quality assurance, software testing, and IT governance, applying relevant innovations to improve team performance.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Proven experience working in Agile environments, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions, optimize test coverage, and identify risk.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading both manual and automated test strategies, including test planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Proficient in using QA tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira to track testing tasks and manage QA workflows.

Experience

A minimum of eight years of related experience is required (if no degree, 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling 12 years). 

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
