He aha te tūranga - About the role: 

We have an opportunity to join our team as Senior Legal Counsel. The Senior Legal Counsel reports to the General Counsel and is responsible for providing high-quality and pragmatic advice, and developing legal services and resources, to ensure Hato Hone St John manages its legal obligations and organisational risks.  The Senior Legal Counsel will advise on a wide range issues, including:  

• Commercial & contractual arrangements
• Regulatory & compliance issues
• Governance
• Privacy
• Project work

Working in a unique and dynamic environment, this role provides an excellent pathway for those with ambitions to progress to a General Counsel position.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe - About you:

• Law degree
• Current practising certificate
• Minimum six years PQE
• A track record of providing advice and managing legal issues within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, with some in-house experience.
• An ability to bring an understanding of ‘best practice’ and provide pragmatic and actionable legal advice to wide range of internal clients.
• Strong analytical, attention to detail, and critical reasoning skills.
• Strong planning, organisational skills to manage disparate activities simultaneously.
