UniGroup is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Senior Load Planner to join our Operations team. In this role, you will develop and execute transportation solutions that optimize truck capacity while ensuring efficiency and service excellence. You’ll collaborate with agents, van operators, vendors, and internal teams to maximize profitability, uphold compliance standards, and provide best-in-class service. As a senior member of the team, you’ll also mentor Load Planning staff, supporting their growth and contributing to operational success.
What You’ll Do
• Develop and approve load plans to maximize available capacity and revenue (including third-party carriers).
• Make independent financial decisions within established limits to keep expenditures on budget.
• Lead operational communications and documentation, including load tendering, claims resolution, and service requests.
• Partner cross-functionally to contribute insights, share best practices, and support business management initiatives.
• Mentor and guide Load Planning staff while supporting seasonal team success.
• Oversee compliance with UniGroup policies, departmental procedures, and transportation regulations.
• Drive process improvement initiatives, from documentation and facilitation to implementation.
• Qualify and expand the carrier network in line with company and DOT/FMCSA standards.
• Monitor key performance indicators and recommend improvements to enhance quality, profitability, and growth.
What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in transportation or logistics.
• Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to balance service, efficiency, and profitability.
• Effective communicator and collaborator, with a passion for process improvement and staff development.
