The Chief of Staff (CoS) for EXL’s Payment Integrity Strategic Growth Unit (PI SGU) is a senior management role with high visibility & impact designed to amplify the effectiveness of the PI SGU head and drive the strategic priorities for the unit. The CoS will serve as a trusted advisor, strategic partner, and an extension of the SGU head, interface with leads from client-facing PODs, analytics, operations, technology, sales and other enabling functions. The CoS will also lead the SGU’s Project Management Office (PMO), drive execution of strategic initiatives, and represent the SGU Head in internal and external forums as required. The CoS will ensure smooth coordination across SGU, drive leadership reporting and communication, mitigate risks, and be the primary liaison to Executive Leadership. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational discipline, and exceptional communication & presentation skills.
Strategic business management & coordination
- Lead & coordinate monthly business reviews and strategic off-sites, coordinating with leaders across Client PODs, analytics, operations, and technology. Proactively tracked outcomes to ensure alignment and execution.
- Monitor KPIs, operational metrics, project milestones, opportunity pipeline & provide SGU head with synthesized reports, highlighting emerging revenue risks, mitigation plan & growth opportunities
- Prepare data-driven briefs, presentations, and analyses to facilitate effective and efficient decision-making by the SGU Head and leadership team.
- Partner with Client POD leaders, operations, analytics & account teams for annual strategic account planning.
- Ensure accountability and delivery of cross-functional initiatives across Client PODs and enabling functions.
Corporate liaison & communications
- Be the primary corporate liaison between SGU & Executive Leadership, ensuring seamless communication. Represent the SGU in meetings, ensuring its vision & goals are conveyed and key takeaways are captured and acted upon.
- Coordinate, collaborate & deliver all required updates, reports, inputs, & submissions for corporate forums, committee, reviews, offsites and executive meetings.
- Own and manage all SGU-level external communications, ensuring clarity, timeliness, and alignment with SGU goals.
Project management Office (PMO) & Strategic initiatives
- Run the Project Management Office (PMO) for the SGU, ensuring all projects are on track, resourced appropriately, and aligned with business goals.
- Lead and manage the execution of key strategic initiatives and projects delegated by senior leadership.
- Track and report progress on special projects - transformation programs, new offering development, growth initiatives, client engagements, and operational excellence projects.
- Lead ad-hoc, high-priority projects that are critical to the SGU's success, such as M&A due diligence support, competitor analysis, or large-scale client escalation management.
- Manage and coordinate all required inputs from the SGU for corporate reporting and cross-functional meetings.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: 8–10 years of experience in consulting, business operations, program management, or CoS/business management roles within technology services outsourcing, healthcare or insurance. Familiarity with both payer and provider environments is a plus.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to work effectively across various time zones, adapt to different countries, cultural contexts, and diverse business environments.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a passion for collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to senior leadership.
- Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships across all levels of the organization, including with corporate functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues into manageable tasks.
- Professional maturity and credibility to represent the SGU Head with senior stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong Excel and Presentation skills required.
- Knowledge of claims auditing & PI business is a plus
