Senior Field Engineering Technical Manager

Drives the performance and development of direct reports and other technical staff by creating performance objectives, training and development plans, providing coaching, mentoring, guidance and feedback to ensure their success and compliance with requirements.

Drives engagement of the Technical Manager team by creating an environment that motivates for success.

Collaborates with stakeholders such as Principal Engineers or other technical experts to resolve significant technical issues and/or realize technical improvements related to Field Engineering surveillance, inspections, audits and FUS samples. 

Collaborates with CPO, Principal Engineers, Operations and COUs in the development and implementation of technical solutions that resolve or prevent surveillance issues and improve technical requirements. Increases customer satisfaction by anticipating customer needs related to technical requirements and addresses concerns with proactive solutions. 

Provides leadership in the implementation and communication of technical requirements that impact Field Engineering processes and surveillance.

Assesses the impact of changes to certification requirements on surveillance and works with stakeholders to ensure risks are mitigated and changes are communicated, understood and implemented within Field.

May manage the technical competency program globally or for a specific region and provides leadership and direction to the Technical Manager team in identifying technical training needs to ensure content is developed and deployed. 

Identifies and implements methods to measure consistency and accuracy in the application of technical requirements and when requested participates in external and internal audits. 

May provide guidance to those involved in corrective action analysis ensuring a robust analysis and effective resolution.

Performs other duties as directed.

Bachelor’s degree or diploma from an accredited university through a formal program of study in Engineering, Engineering Management, or relevant Engineering Discipline (such as Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or Physics but not limited to these disciplines only), plus eight years or more of directly related experience or demonstrated competency, including 3 years or more of relevant management/leadership experience or demonstrated competency.

Strong knowledge of and experience with inspection and audit activities.

Experience as a lead or participant in cross-functional or global projects or worked in multiple functions and has ability to listen, learn and teach. 

Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.

Working knowledge ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17065 or equivalent.
