Overview
The psychology department at Salem State University is seeking to fill an open-rank, full-time, tenure-track position in biological/physiological psychology. Duties include teaching undergraduate and, optionally, graduate courses in biological or physiological psychology, as well as guiding student research or internships. Teaching responsibilities may also involve other courses such as general and developmental psychology, and research methods and statistics. Research interests may include, but are not limited to, psychopharmacology, physiological mechanisms underlying cellular communication, learning, internal regulation, psychopathology, addiction, trauma, sleep, emotion, health, and sexuality.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- An earned doctorate from an APA accredited institution in a field that falls under the broad umbrella of biological psychology (e.g. cognitive neuroscience, physiological psychology, psychopharmacology). ABD candidates will be considered if doctorate is completed by June 30, 2026.
- Experience in and demonstrated commitment to teaching, research, advising, and mentoring of students with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience and training in relevant coursework including introductory and advanced undergraduate biological and physiological psychology courses, and other psychology courses such as general and developmental psychology, and statistics and research methods
- Experience in and commitment to involving undergraduate students in research or internships in biological psychology
- Experience using instructional technologies, teaching face-to-face and hybrid (partially online) classes and academic advising.

Working Location
This is an on-site position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
