Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Boston, Massachusetts.

Work You’ll Do
Assist clients with managing state tax liabilities, including compliance, provision/financial reporting, controversy, and advisory. Assist clients in navigating challenges such as states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Services include business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and passthrough clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Primary responsibilities include overseeing complex tax research and analysis projects for clients in diverse industries, as well as researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Undertake tax compliance assignments for current and former executives of client corporations and partners of client organizations. Assist clients to assess their existing tax processes and identify and implement opportunities for automation and efficiencies. Review systems controls and documentation around technologies that support the tax compliance and consulting functions. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and passthrough clients.

Requirements
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen (18) months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience preparing and reviewing tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provisions for corporations and partnerships in multistate jurisdictions. Experience must include eighteen (18) months of:

  • providing income and franchise tax consulting, tax planning, state tax audit defense, and income tax accounting services for multistate companies;
  • utilizing tax research tools, including CCH, to research complex tax issues relating to tax law changes, regulations, or tax cases;
  • utilizing tax preparation software, including Corptax, GoSystem, and ONESOURCE, to prepare state and local tax returns for corporate clients;
  • performing state taxation services, including state apportionment, modifications and state and local credits calculation, based on varying state regulations;
  • implementing data-related projects, including extraction, transformation and loading (“ETL”), process automation, data analytics, data wrangling, and data visualization;
  • supporting development of application solutions and platforms to address client specific data technology issues and supporting solution testing and certification;
  • analyzing information reporting and tax compliance data to resolve discrepancies, and preparing analytical reports and documentation using MS Excel and/or Power BI to assist clients with tax form reporting;
  • utilizing reporting tools, Including Alteryx Designer and Microsoft Power BI, to perform process automation for reporting, including performing workflow automation for tax client needs.

Other
Hours: M-F, 40 hours/week;
