Inpria, a subsidiary of JSR Corporation, has an immediate opening for a Production Engineer I in Corvallis, OR. This hands-on, entry-level position carries responsibilities for supporting and improving product formulation equipment of multiple sizes, performing new equipment qualification, and ensuring accuracy of vital record-keeping systems. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work efficiently and communicate well with the engineering, management and operations teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop canister cleaning and drying processes using residual gas analysis and trace metals analysis. Train operations personnel on canister cleaning. Implement canister tracking system to monitor usage and data collection.
  • Work with vendors to perform new equipment factory acceptance tests at supplier and site acceptance tests at Inpria.
  • Conduct site assessment, installation and performance qualifications. Develop processes with documentation and train production on use of new equipment.
  • Design retrofits to equipment to satisfy corrective and preventive actions to support quality, safety, or throughput improvements.
  • Own formulating frequent, repeatable EUV photoresist batches on our pilot and production lines for worldwide customer delivery.
  • Support and streamline standard and non-standard formulation batch production.
  • Perform hands-on analytical measurements of in-process samples and other simple wet-bench chemistry, including use of laboratory fume hoods and inert gloveboxes.
  • Perform preventive and responsive maintenance and assist in calibration activities.
  • Support manufacturing team on first response to equipment downtime.
  • Investigate system performance, cycle time, aging, and loading to predict failures.
  • Understand normal and abnormal system operation, and analyze sensor data to determine root cause of failures.
  • Use web-based tracking and scheduling system to manage and log equipment specifications, maintenance events, and changes.
  • Follow, update, and create written SOPs and process instructions.
  • Modify equipment drawings and CAD files with revision control.
  • Follow safe work practices including wearing PPE .
  • Communicate and engage with a diverse team of engineers, technicians and operators.
  • Document data and ensure data integrity, demonstrating good lab book practices and quality control metrics.
  • Analyze data using statistical control methods, respond to process deviations, and report findings to relevant teams.
  • Use quality management systems to escalate process deviations to material review board.
  • Develop and update process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
  • Establish Theory of Operation based on P&ID and work with engineering to implement controls.
  • Work in cleanroom environments and practice clean handling procedures to minimize contamination.
  • Provide on-call engineering support in rotation with engineering team during evenings and/or weekends, pending business needs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
  • Preference given to Mechanical Engineering candidates with chemical processing or lab experience, or Chemical Engineering candidates with design and systems experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and web-based platforms.
  • Demonstrates good chemical hygiene, safe laboratory practices; recognizes hazardous conditions and addresses them.
  • Well organized, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, quality-minded, and eager to learn
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, willingness to support off-shift hours through engineer-on-call rotation.
  • Demonstration of active and effective communication skills, verbal and written. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without the need for employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and mouse for computer data entry and/or analysis, and for presenting data.
  • Ability to wear a respirator (upon training/certification) for processes where required.
  • Ability to wear standard cleanroom attire in areas that require it.
  • Ability to wear standard PPE in areas that require it.
  • Ability to work in a production environment for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move full 55-gallon drums with appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to use a glovebox with thick rubber gloves to accurately pour, pipet, mix, and handle chemicals in small vials or bottles.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, including, but not limited to forklifts and drum lifters.
  • 40 hours/week or more
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds from floor to table height.
  • Ability to use a hand truck, drum lifter, and pallet jack to transport heavy objects.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand in one place for extended periods.
  • Physical activities include using hand tools, bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, climbing stairs, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to precisely handle small bottles, packages, labels, and other materials.
  • Travel to vendors or to Inpria’s Beaverton office (<5%).
