π»The Role
We are seeking a Legal Counsel with strong privacy compliance expertise to join our Legal team. This role involves leading privacy matters with our DPO, ensuring compliance while supporting company growth. You will also assist the Senior Counsel in advising the Product team on legal aspects of product development. This hands-on position requires a pragmatic, collaborative, and business-oriented approach, combining privacy, consumer law, and compliance expertise with strategic guidance on legal risks and process optimization to build a scalable, business-friendly legal framework. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Tech, Marketing, Operations) to turn innovative ideas into practical, compliant, and scalable projects, supporting daily operations and strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Frequent presence at our Milan office is required.
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Privacy & Data Protection β Providing business-focused legal advice on data protection and privacy, ensuring GDPR compliance, working closely with the internal teams and DPO and embedding a privacy-by-design approach into business processes.
- Product Legal Support β Advise the Product and Research teams on legal considerations throughout the lifecycle of products and services, ensuring compliance with Italian, European, and international regulations. This includes drafting and reviewing documents like T&Cs, privacy policies, DPAs etc.
- Policy and Process Improvement: Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of internal policies, and compliance processes.
- Marketing & Communications Complianceβ Review and advise on online and offline communications to ensure alignment with advertising laws, consumer protection rules, and fair commercial practices.
- Emerging Technologies & AIβ Support projects involving innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence, by identifying legal and regulatory risks and providing practical solutions.
- Regulatory Monitoring & Internal Guidance β Keep abreast of relevant regulatory developments, draft internal guidance, and provide actionable recommendations to ensure company-wide compliance.
βοΈYOU WILL BE THE PERFECT FIT IF YOU HAVE:
- You are a qualified lawyer in Italy with a strong background in reputable law firms with at least 4/5 years of overall experience,Β ideally combining reputable law firm training and in-house exposure, preferably in tech, digital, or regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR and other European privacy frameworks.
- Experience advising Product or R&D teams on legal and regulatory matters, including consumer law.
- Understanding of emerging technologies and AI from a legal/regulatory perspective.
- Ability to draft, review, and negotiate agreements where relevant to product or privacy matters.
- A pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Excellent English and Italian communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, managing multiple priorities with autonomy and effectively prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
