Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of software engineers across varying levels and backgrounds, coaching for impact, inclusion, and career growth.
- Own the engineering roadmap for our acquisition engine, balancing rapid hypothesis testing with durable platform investments.
- Drive developer productivity with AI‑assisted and agentic practices, while elevating engineering standards of accelerating velocity and ensuring reliability.
- Ship data-driven experiments that improve funnel metrics in close partnership with PM, Design, Data Science and Research.
- Model our culture of growth mindset, clarity, accountability, and inclusive behaviors, removing systemic blockers so your team ships with speed and quality.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 2+ years of people management experience leading software engineers, with evidence of hiring, coaching, and performance development.
- 2+ years of experience scaling developer productivity (AI‑agentic coding, CI/CD automation, test strategy, observability, reliability/SRE).
- 3+ years of experience architecting distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and telemetry.
- OR equivalent experience.
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 4+ years people management experience.
- Fluency in our core stack: C#/.NET (services, APIs) and React + TypeScript (front‑end).
- Demonstrated success running hypothesis‑driven experiments.
- Security, compliance, privacy‑by‑design mindset; experience with cost‑aware engineering and performance optimization.
- Strong collaborator with PM, Design, Data Science, and Research; communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
