As a Software Engineer II in the Microsoft Store team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Windows app distribution components and the foundational layers of the Microsoft Store application. You’ll work on delivering reliable, scalable, and performant infrastructure that enables seamless app experiences for millions of users. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your understanding of Windows app distribution architecture, build scalable systems that power the Microsoft Store experience, and grow your engineering skills through hands-on contributions to critical platform components. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into scalable design specifications.
  • Independently design, implement, and maintain features and services with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Break down complex work into manageable tasks and provide accurate estimates for delivery.
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for critical services, leading incident response and driving root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve the system design to meet future scalability and reliability goals.
  • Drive improvements in engineering practices, including CI/CD, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Stay current with industry trends and apply new technologies and practices to improve the product and development process.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Uderstanding of Windows app ecosystem or experience in Windows Programming WinRT/COM with solid understanding of the Windows architecture.
  • Proficiency in full-stack development, including both frontend (e.g., React, xmal, Java, JavaScript) and backend (e.g., .NET, or Azure-based services).
  • Proficient problem solving and debugging skills.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
