Position Summary
The Senior Test Engineer (Thermal) is responsible for leading the validation of complex power systems within Vertiv’s product portfolio. This role involves designing and executing system-level test plans, maintaining lab infrastructure, supporting prototype builds, and ensuring compliance with performance and safety standards. In addition, this role and this team will support system level demonstrations for customers.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in thermal systems and will collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and lab teams to ensure robust and reliable product performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute system-level test plans for thermal systems (Chillers, CDU, DX, etc).
- Lead setup and operation of test environments, including instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Analyze test data to assess system performance, identify anomalies, and recommend improvements.
- Support prototype builds and integration of subsystems for validation.
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and ensure readiness for testing activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Document test procedures, results, and technical observations in detailed reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability.
- Mentor junior technicians and engineers in test methodologies and lab practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of lab processes and test capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field;
- 3 - 5 years of experience in system-level testing, with a focus on Thermal systems.
- Strong understanding thermal systems.
- Proficient in using test instrumentation such as flow meters, and thermal sensors.
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Python, etc.) and test automation platforms.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret schematics and system diagrams.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional test efforts.
- Physical & Environmental Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a lab environment.
- Standing and/or walking while performing tasks up to 70% of the time.
- Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required.
