Job Summary
The VP, Strategic IT Portfolio & Value Realization and M&A Integration Leader is responsible for both directing the company's IT investment strategy, ensuring that all technology projects are prioritized and aligned with our corporate goals and leading the integration strategy and execution for potential M&A activities. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders across the organization to build and manage a portfolio of projects that drive growth, efficiency, and innovation while also ensuring that we are well positioned to determine the potential investment and value that each portfolio / acquisition candidate represents. This role is a key enabler of our company's future, ensuring that every dollar spent on IT delivers tangible, measurable business value.
This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH - HQ office location.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning M&A: Develop a comprehensive M&A integration playbook and a customized plan for each transaction. Collaborate with deal teams and executive leadership to align the integration strategy with the core deal thesis.
- Strategic Planning Portfolio: Partner with the executive leadership team and business unit heads to understand strategic priorities and translate them into a coherent IT investment roadmap. Ensure the IT portfolio directly supports business objectives like market expansion, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Execution Oversight M&A: Oversee the execution of all integration workstreams, ensuring key milestones are met. Identify and mitigate risks and proactively solve complex problems that arise during the integration process.
- Execution Oversight Portfolio: Build and maintain strong relationships with Senior leaders across all business functions (e.g., Sales, Operations, Finance, Engineering) to foster a culture of partnership and shared ownership for IT initiatives. Act as a trusted advisor, helping to shape business requirements and identify technology-enabled opportunities.
- Value Realization M&A: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the integration, including synergy realization, cost savings, and revenue growth. Report on progress and performance to the executive team and board of directors.
- Value Realization Portfolio: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for all major IT initiatives. Establish a robust methodology for measuring the business value realized from IT investments post-implementation, including return on investment (ROI), efficiency gains, and new revenue streams. Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess performance against these metrics.
- Change Management & Communication (both): Develop and execute a robust change management and communication plan to manage employee morale and retain key talent. Act as a visible leader who is transparent about the integration process and vision. Establish and enforce a clear governance framework for the IT portfolio. Create and present executive-level dashboards and reports that provide a transparent view of the portfolio's health, including project status, budget performance, and realized value.
- Leadership & Governance (both): Lead the integration steering committee and establish a governance model to manage project timelines, budgets, and key decisions. Serve as the single point of contact and accountability for the entire integration process.
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership (both): Recruit, train, and manage a dedicated, cross-functional integration team. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all workstreams, including IT, HR, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Legal.
- Portfolio Management & Prioritization: Lead the IT Governance Committee and other key stakeholders in a rigorous, data-driven process for project selection and prioritization. Develop and maintain a balanced portfolio that includes projects for business growth, operational efficiency, and technology modernization.
- Portfolio Resource Management: Allocate and manage critical resources, including budget, personnel, and third-party vendors, to ensure portfolio projects are adequately staffed and funded. Work with IT and business leaders to resolve resource conflicts and optimize resource utilization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree (e.g., MBA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in strategic portfolio management or related leadership role. Experience in a technology or infrastructure company is highly desirable.
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, PgMP, or an equivalent portfolio management certification are a plus.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and connect IT initiatives to high-level business goals.
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial concepts, including ROI, total cost of ownership (TCO), and budgeting.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and financial information to a C-suite audience.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading and influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority.
