Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. The Ontario Line Strategic Engagement team is looking for a Community Engagement Advisor to support strategy, planning, process improvement, and reporting.  In this role, you will help by driving integration, process improvement, and reporting across the Ontario Line Community Engagement teams.  .. For example, you will create a stakeholder engagement plan and platform that drives evidence and analysis-based engagement efforts across the Ontario Line, help create and implement a neighbourhood level content strategy, support quarterly business planning sessions, and lead monthly KPI reporting and processes. You will report to the Senior Manager, Strategic Engagement 

What will I be doing?
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of community engagement strategies, plans, and programs.
  • Create program policies, procedures, and guidance materials for end users. 
  • Apply project management skills to drive coordination; foster integration; and move complex project planning forward within a complex and fast pressure environment. 
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with internal stakeholders as well as residents and external stakeholder groups help drive Metrolinx’s public communications efforts.
  • Work with team members across the Ontario Line to lead process improvement efforts; lead annual, quarterly, and monthly reporting; and support strategic and proactive events planning. 
  • Support planning efforts by helping refine and standardize processes; measure, collect, and report on KPIs; and help organize strategic planning and quarterly work planning sessions. 
  • Support Sr. Advisors and Managers in program design, development, and delivery as needed, including research and analysis and creating briefing products such as briefing notes and power point presentations.
  • Define and clearly communicate Metrolinx’s key messages related to project plans and construction impacts. 
  • Support formal consultation by arranging and hosting regular key stakeholder meetings and project tours as required.
  • Provide support to various internal and externals stakeholders and work with project neighbors.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, KPI reporting, and process improvement, including creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures, and briefing notes.
  • Strong influencing/negotiating skills as well as political acumen capabilities to deal with a variety of stakeholders, agencies and staff to reach desired outcomes. 
  • Experience in strategic planning and workplanning.
  • Experience in policy and program development, including creating corporate policies and procedures, as well as guidance materials. 
  • Completion of a dregee in Public Policy or Administration, Business, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Communications, Media, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent. 
  • Experience in communications or community engagement.
  • Ability to communicate in French or other language is an asset.
  • Familiarity and experience working with the diverse communities that make up the region.
  • Previous experience working on large infrastructure projects and facilitating a public consultation or engagement process.
  • Experience leading community projects to deliver finalized communications products within tight deadlines. 
  • Organizational, research, planning, time management and project management skills. 
  • Interpersonal, diplomacy, oral/written communication skills and political acuity.
  • Flexible Hours – must be prepared to occasionally work outside of regular working hours during some phases of a project (beyond 5pm during the work week and weekends as required, etc.).
