About The Position:

We are looking for a freelance Data Engineer to cover for our Senior Data Engineer during paternity leave. This is a hands-on role that will establish and operationalize data pipelines, business intelligence dashboards, and data models that enable the entire company to make better, faster decisions. 

You will work directly with the CTO to co-create the architecture of our new data platform, ingest structured and unstructured data, and enable its use in dashboards, reports, and operational tools. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the foundations of Axmed’s data platform from day one, working with modern technologies, including dbt, Metabase, and GPT models, in a startup environment that values adaptability and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Engineering & Architecture

• Own data pipelines and dbt models, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with the CTO on data architecture decisions and execution across AWS or GCP.
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
• Document data architecture, pipelines, and processes to ensure knowledge continuity.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Gather detailed requirements from business teams and translate them into effective data solutions.
• Build and maintain BI dashboards in Metabase to drive decision-making and operational success across the company.
• Support teams across the business with data access, reporting, and insights.

Regulatory & Data Acquisition

• Operationalize regulatory data for lead generation opportunities and assess procurement-level data acquisition.

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain data security measures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years in engineering roles within technology-driven companies.
• 3+ years in data engineering, ELT pipeline development, and data modeling.
• Strong SQL proficiency with experience in at least one cloud data warehouse.
• Hands-on experience with dbt or similar data transformation tools.
• Proficiency in Python (web scraping a plus).
• Experience with AWS or GCP for data solutions and pipeline delivery.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools.Strong understanding of software engineering practices (Git, code review).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proven track record of working in cross-functional teams in Agile environments.

Salary: $4000 per month
