Our Global Events Team's mission is to deliver an overarching global event strategy across the business. Including driving the execution for both customer & employee major events. We are focused on driving best practices and standardization for regular event activities as well as committed to creating exceptional and memorable attendee experiences across all Akamai events including digital, face-to-face & hybrid events.

Create exceptional attendee experiences

You will be responsible for planning and executing a wide range of small to large Akamai customer events (in person, digital and/or hybrid) including leading Akamai’s  industry 3rd party tradeshows and Akamai led events.  In this role, the successful candidate will manage an event team, work collaboratively across the Global Akamai Marketing teams and engage with executive stakeholders to deliver a strong event strategy, define the attendee experience and deliver exceptional results. The Senior Manager, Global Events carries out complex assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of the business and an understanding of how events support business goals. S/he will be responsible for overall project management, attendee experience & satisfaction, operational excellence as well as the achievement of strategic and budgetary goals such as demand generation (ROI) and brand awareness. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Global Events. 

As a Senior Manager of Global Events, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing overarching customer event strategy, plan, and execute events in support of marketing's business goals and priorities (for both Akamai led and 3rd party events)
  • Delivering key employee events in line with Akamai's enablement and development strategy (Sales Kick-off and incentive programs)
  • Working collaboratively across Akamai Global Marketing and other key stakeholders
  • Being a strong and effective ambassador at events, creating impactful experiences for Akamai's clients and employees 
  • Striving for continuous improvement of events by proposing new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
  • Inspiring and motivating a team of event managers
  • Providing event management and strategy for events including: attendee experience & engagement, end to end project management, budget management, site selection for hotels and event venues, hotel negotiations & management, vendor selection & management, audience generation, travel arrangements, execution and production of the events run of show, management of digital and/or hybrid event platforms

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 10  years of relevant experience in event and/or marketing program management and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate event planning skills, specifically in strategic deal-making, with excellent communications and networking ability
  • Have experience planning high-touch, high visible events for both internal & external audiences
  • Have strong interpersonal communication skills with a customer service focus
  • Have the ability to address issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions
  • Have people management experience
  • Be flexible with change and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $110,800 - $230,200/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
