Position Summary:  (part-time contract: 8 - 10 hours/week - $80/day)

The athletic trainer is responsible for preventing, diagnosing, and treating sports-related injuries and conditions. This role involves working closely with student-athletes in grades 6-9, coaches, and campus nurses to ensure the health and safety of individuals participating in athletic programs. Key duties include developing rehabilitation programs, providing emergency care during practices and games, and promoting overall physical wellness. The athletic trainer also ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and contributes to performance enhancement through injury prevention strategies and education. This role will work four days per week, Monday through Thursday, for three ten-week sports sessions per academic year, including opportunities for off-season employment.  

Responsibilities:

  • Attend all home sports games and triage all sports-related injuries and medical emergencies 
  • When no games are scheduled, attend sports practices and triage all sports-related injuries and medical emergencies 
  • Provide immediate on-site assessment and treatment of injuries for athletes from other schools as well as CS students
  • Perform orthopedic assessments for all student-athletes
  • Manage chronic injuries/provide treatments (pre-wrapping/taping, stretching) 
  • Assist athletes through recovery/rehabilitation and manage gradual return-to-play plans after injuries/concussions
  • Implement prevention programs for athletes (strengthening, conditioning, nutrition, injury prevention)
  • Provide required health training and education for athletes, families, and coaches
  • Develop positive working relationships with all constituencies: students, parents, colleagues, and administration 
  • Athletic Trainer certification
  • CPR and first aid trained 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
