Job Description:
- The Associate Director of Student Involvement & Leadership will support the transition of new students and actively engage parents and families with Oxford College through overseeing the curriculum development and implementation of the Learning to Lead course, including developing curriculum, faculty recruitment and training, assessment, and managing sections accordingly.
- Coordinates the Own Oxford pre-orientation program. Serves on the New Student Orientation planning committee and overseeing the coordination and production of onboarding materials.
- Recruits Oxford Welcome Leaders (OWLs) and Peer Assistance Leaders (PALs). Develops and facilitates comprehensive training for OWLs and PALs rooted in the Social Change Model and best practices in orientation, transition and retention.
- Supervises summer orientation intern, Oversees programs and services that support parent and family programs, including Family Weekend and family newsletters. Coordinates Student Leader Training opportunities around campus.
- Coordinates the Leadership Oxford program, including development of Sophomore Leader training. Performs administrative duties, including managing annual programmatic budget, preserving relevant documents, and maintaining relevant website content.
- Serves on cross-campus committees, including but not limited to 100 Senior Honorary and Campus Life committees.
- Collaborates with the Advising Support Center to create and implement transition activities for students to the Atlanta campus.
- Evaluates the success of various programs, groups, functions and special events. Provides input into departmental goals and objectives.
- Compiles, edits and produces publications, brochures, and newsletters. Maintains required records and documentation. Prepares various operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field and two years of related professional experience, particularly in areas of orientation, transition and retention.
Additional Job Details:
New Student Orientation and Onboarding- Leads the planning and execution of New Student Orientation for incoming students to Oxford College.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises Orientation Leaders to support onboarding, pre-orientation, New Student Orientation, and Weeks of Welcome.
- Collaborates with the Orientation Committee to connect events, themes, and programs.
- Oversees a robust second-year experience program that provides academic, career, and transitional support.
- Serves on the ATLBound committee to support the transition to the Atlanta campus.
- Plans and executes large-scale events for sophomores, especially in the second semester.
- Oversees the transition program for London Start students returning to Oxford in their second semester.
- Oversees programming calendar and logistics (budget, space, catering, supplies).
- Creates assessment plans tied to programming (satisfaction, attendance, feedback).
- Evaluates the success and/or impact of events and programs.
- Maintains required records and documentation.
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Student Center facilities.
- Coordinates audio-visual equipment, setup, staff, and maintenance.
- Coordinates marketing and advertising for building events, including digital signage.
- Ensures facility and community standards are upheld and interpreted for users.
- Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and schedules Student Center staff.
- Facilitates regular meetings and trainings for student staff.
- Creates student operations manuals and training checklists to ensure compliance.
- Collaborates with the International Student Programs office to support international students.
- Collaborates with other departments to support student leadership education programs.
- Supports ongoing SILT initiatives.
- Provides informal counseling and support to students on an ongoing basis.
- Connects resource documents and information to provide a 'one-stop-shop' for students.
- Attends bi-weekly staff meetings and monthly Campus Life meetings.
- Attends regular one-on-one meetings with supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
