Description

The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City has an immediate opening for a Director of Teen Leadership & Community Impact.

Position Description:

In accordance with the Bylaws and policies established by the Board of Directors, and under the supervision of the Executive Director of Teen Leadership, the Director of Teen Leadership & Community Impact will provide support, planning, direction and implementation of activities for the YMCA Teen Leadership Councils and Y-Corps Service-Learning Trips, as well as assist with all other YMCA Teen Leadership programs. 

Salary: $40,314 to $48,271/year depending on experience

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the planning and implementation of Teen Leadership Council (TLC), including but not limited to: 
  • Student Recruitment
  • Student application and acceptance process
  • Student & Parent communication
  • Monthly meeting for all three TLC’s (two middle school, one high school)
  • Monthly service projects for all TLC Members
  • Monthly social events for all TLC Members 
  • Responsible for all aspects of the coordinating and implementation of Y-Corps Service-Learning program, including but not limited to: 
  • Planning of all local and nation-wide trips
  • Student & Parent Communications
  • Participant recruitment
  • Identify fundraising opportunities for students
  • To ensure the relevant practices of Y-Corps in accordance with state and national Y-Corps programs
  • Assisting in Campaign efforts for all Teen Leadership programs, with oversight in TLC & Y-Corps efforts.
  • Assisting in the gathering of data for TLC & Y-Corps programming for grant and reporting purposes. 
  • Program volunteer management, including background checks, training, maintaining records & communication. 
  • Maintaining or creating program curriculum as needed
  • Strong personal commitment to demonstrating a passion for working to improve the quality and impact of YMCA Teen programs thought our communities.
  • Assist in implementation and teaching of Teen Job Training Program
  • Assist in all aspects of planning and implementing of all Teen Leadership programs, including Youth and Government and Y Achievers. 
  • Other responsibilities and assignments are appropriate with position evolvement and or assigned by the Executive Director. 
  • Some weekend and evening work is required as well as travel (mostly summer). 
  • Follow all guidelines and procedures established by the YMCA
  • Commitment and support of the YMCA’s mission, values and philosophy

Effect On End Results:

This position provides guidance and leadership to ensure key program areas are up to date and effective in reach in support of the communities we serve within the mission of the YMCA. The effectiveness of this position is measured by: 

  • Student participants & retention rates
  • Recruitment of new schools and students
  • Community partner participation and program satisfaction
  • Financial Revenue from Grants, Foundation and Campaign
  • Continued growth of councils and participant numbers of trips

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 2-3 years’ experience working with Youth & Teen programs
  • Experience coordinating and leading group travel or student trips preferred. 
  • Certifications in CPR/PR, AED, O2, First Aid and Lifeguard (YMCA will provide training if not current). And must complete Certifications to become an ASHI instructor within the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City. 
  • Must complete all required YMCA compliance training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. 
  • Experience in establishing and developing successful relationships and collaboration with schools, agencies and community organizations. 
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Strong project management, organization, and implementation skills.
  • Proficient and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills 
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License 
  • Must be able to drive the YMCA activity van- (no CDL required)
  • Proficiency in a variety of software and platforms (i.e. Microsoft Office, Canva, Airtable, etc.) and strong technical capabilities for learning other systems, as necessary.
