We are currently seeking a motivated and strategic Public Outreach Manager to join our vibrant team. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for science communication, public engagement, and building meaningful connections between research, industry, and society. 

The position is initially limited to two years, with the prospect of becoming permanent..

Your Mission

In this position, you are responsible for building positive press and media relationships, and promote the organization’s mission and programs. This role combines communication, stakeholder engagement, and public education to ensure broad visibility and support for the organization.

• Serve as the primary press contact for incoming media and public inquiries in close coordination        with relevant stakeholders (e.g., ministry representatives, partner institutions).
• Develop and implement outreach strategies to raise public awareness of Cyber Valley’s initiatives, research, and impact.
• Draft, edit and distribute press releases, media statements, and briefings.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets.
• Organize press conferences, media visits, and interviews.
• Act as a key contact for all communication departments of the stakeholders.
• Design and create accessible communication materials that make complex scientific topics understandable to broad audiences.
• Manage and expand partnerships to strengthen engagement with local, national, and international communities.
• Monitor and evaluate outreach and media impact, using insights to refine strategies
• Plan, organize, and coordinate community-focused events, workshops, and public discussions.

Your Profile

 

• Master degree in communications, public relations, journalism, education, social sciences, or related fields.
• Several years of experience in press/media relations and/or public outreach work.
• Established media network within Germany; international contacts are a plus.
• Proven experience in community outreach, science communication, or event management.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse groups of stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills in German (native-level German preferred) and English.
• Confident spokesperson with excellent presentation and moderation skills
• Creative, structured, and motivated team player with a hands-on mentality and high intercultural competence.
• Knowledge of topics such as AI, science, and technology is an advantage.
