Paralegal (Corporate Services Department) – Calgary, AB
Job Summary
We are currently looking for a dynamic and experienced senior-level, CORES III accredited, Paralegal to join the Corporate Services Department. The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be collaborative, professional, adaptable, positive and interested in their work. Working under the general supervision of a lawyer, will independently perform a variety of legal and administrative tasks.
Work Environment
Hybrid remote work arrangements are available with requirements as per business needs for onsite office support. The successful candidate must live in or around Calgary, AB and be able to commute to the office as often as required. While this is a hybrid role, the majority of the work may be onsite.
Fasken Calgary has a mandatory requirement of three (3) days in office and up to two (2) days remote, work permitting. In-office requirements are subject to change, based on business needs as determined by the Firm’s Management
Hours of work are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional pre-authorized overtime may be required to meet client and business needs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Drafting various documents under the supervision of a lawyer including, but not limited to:
- Meeting with lawyers to receive instructions and feedback.
- Assisting with closings.
- Updating the ALF database.
- Other duties, as assigned, under the direction of the supervising lawyer and/or Manager, Corporate Services.
- agreements;
- resolutions;
- complex share provisions;
- documents for various types of transactions including corporate and tax reorganizations;
- documents relating to incorporation and organization, amalgamations, complex amendments, continuances and dissolutions; and
- closing agendas;
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Completion of a post-secondary Legal Assistant or Paralegal diploma; An equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and professional expertise will also be considered.
- A minimum of 4-5 years’ paralegal experience (large firm experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of corporate legislation.
- CORES III is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with using and learning technology.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to resolve daily challenges, such as time management, prioritizing own work based on volume and urgency, and managing various deadlines.
- Able to work independently and be proactive.
- Flexible team player who is client service orientated.
