The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for providing general accounting and business support to the company. The role is highly involved in planning, organizing, and ensuring timely completion of monthly and year-end financial closings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Collect and enter individual center enrollment and attendance numbers. Calculate revenue earned from the contract enrollment and attendance numbers. Ensure all data entries are entered, calculated, and reported accurately and timely.
- Perform highly technical and complex accounting analysis, research, calculations, and data compilations in compliance with state funding and other reporting requirements.
- Prepare and update allocation percentages to perform revenue and cost allocations. Compile and allocate revenue and cost among contracts per contract requirements. Ensure all revenue and cost allocations are set up and booked accurately and timely.
- Review and approve journal entries, GL reconciliations, and Accounts Payable invoices as required.
- Generate various monthly accounting reports as required; review statements, schedules and reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance with legal and professional standards.
- Work closely and share knowledge with other GL accountants, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable staff; protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Prepare yearly 571 L and communicate with the assessors' offices in each county to ensure the correct submission.
- Work on the annual inventory project with all sites to confirm the accurate inventory amount.
- Perform other journal entries, reconciliations, special projects, ad hoc reports, and all other office duties as required and assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience as a General Ledger Accountant.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MA/MS degree in Accounting or related field.
- Familiarity with Financial Edge.
Key Competencies:
- Good knowledge of accounting concepts and terminologies required (including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles – GAAP).
- Higher level of computer skills with strong Excel knowledge (including VLOOKUP and pivot tables) required.
- Must work well individually and with a team in a deadline driven environment.
- Must be organized, reliable, and responsible.
Working Conditions:
- Generally pleasant working conditions.
- Less than 50% of daily assignments involve prolonged physical effort.
Shift Type: Full Time, Exempt, Hybrid (3 days in office)
