Job Summary The Certified Child Life Specialist is responsible Prioritizing the coping and developmental needs of pediatric patients and families, CCLSs promote and protect emotional safety in times of healthcare duress. Their work is predicated on individualized assessments of patient-and-family strengths and stressors, alongside the illness and treatment factors that threaten family functioning and well-being. As they build therapeutic relationships with infants, children, youth, and families of all circumstances and backgrounds, CCLSs integrate their knowledge of child development, family systems, and the healing properties of play to promote optimal physical and psychological health in the face of stress-inducing healthcare experiences. The Child Life Assistant must have a college degree or currently enrolled in a college program that centers around Child and Family studies. Experience in a daycare setting is recommended, must have 5+ years working with children, and must be customer service oriented. Must be knowledgeable with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Psychology, Human Development or a related field, is required.
  • Completion of a child life internship under the supervision of a certified CCLS is required.
  • Minimum of one year working with children in a healthcare setting / relevant experience is preferred.
