Job Description

  1. Lead the development and execution of the company’s tax strategy, aligning with business objectives and regulatory requirements for income tax, sales & use tax, indirect tax, property tax, and payroll tax.
  2. Serve as the primary advisor to the CFO and executive team on all tax-related matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital structuring, and expansion planning.
  3. Anticipate legislative and regulatory changes; proactively manage risk and identify planning opportunities.
  4. Ensure full compliance with tax laws while minimizing exposure and avoiding penalties.
  5. Oversee all tax-related financial reporting requirements.
  6. Identify opportunities for tax savings and operational efficiencies through proactive planning and structure optimization.
  7. Evaluate and mitigate risk through strong internal controls, documentation, and ongoing compliance reviews.
  8. Maintain current knowledge of evolving tax codes and lead implementation of necessary changes.
  9. Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on all tax matters, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders.
  10. Drive continuous improvement and automation of tax processes and systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred or required
  • Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in tax roles
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, local, and international tax laws
  • Experience with tax strategy, compliance, transfer pricing, M&A tax planning, and audit management
  • Familiarity with public accounting firms (Big Four experience is a plus)
  • Leadership experience managing large tax teams
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax accounting (ASC 740)
  • Expertise in tax provision software (e.g., ONESOURCE, Corptax)
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to align tax strategy with overall business goals
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Executive presence and ability to collaborate with C-suite leaders
  • Strong business acumen and cross-functional influence
