Stoughton Health has an excellent opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Business/Occupational Health department on a PRN basis.

 The Preventive Health Nurse Practitioner assures quality of care and accountability for occupational and public health services offered by Stoughton Health.  This position designs and markets Stoughton Health’s Occupational Health services to the general public and Stoughton Health constituent groups.  The Preventive Health Nurse Practitioner will thrive on working autonomously and be results-driven.  This position will be self-motivated and display excellent technical and interpersonal skills necessary to improve community health. 

This position is responsible for compliance with health standards as defined by State and Federal government and professional standards.  Duties include promotion of Stoughton Health’s occupational and public health services as well as conducting employment examinations, case managing occupational injuries, and initiating necessary education related to health and safety.  The Preventative Health Nurse  Practitioner assures confidential communication and quality of care to area businesses related to employment examinations, DOT exams, education related to health and safety, accident follow-up and workers compensation case management, advisement of disability issues and applicable accommodations in the workplace, maintenance of Occupational Health records, evaluation, implementation and planning of occupational health related service needs, and coordinates Occupational Health Drug Testing Program.

Position Requirements:

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Preferred Education: Nurse Practitioner or Master of Public Health
  • Professional Experience: At least three years of experience as an Occupational Health Nurse. Experience in public health and marketing occupational health programs strongly preferred. 

Knowledge in two or more of the following areas: Epidemiologic principles, Microbiology, Patient care practice, public health, infectious diseases, occupational health, employee health, and adult learning principles.

  • Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Required Certification: Current BLS certification at hire, ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days of hire, PALS certification within 6 months, FEMA HICS 100 and 200.
  • Computer Competency: Basic Computer Skills are expected for this position. Access email, reference internal websites, access electronic health records, and use online learning tools to remain current with continuing education requirements.
  • Microsoft Office Suite Skills: Intermediate Skills – Able to perform fairly detailed formatting, create Word and Excel files, write formulas and prepare charts for reports.

Work Shift:

  • Per-Diem – As needed
  • Scheduled Days: Monday – Friday
  • Minimum of 2 shifts per month
