About The Position
Do you have a hands-on attitude for a versatile technical and safety role in the Flora Food Science Centre? As Technical Services and SHE Specialist for Flora Food Group, you will be in charge of the maintenance and safety program that keeps our site operations running both smoothly and safely. The Flora Food Science Centre is a BREEAM-certified building and home to a state-of-the-art pilot plant, multiple laboratories, experience kitchens, and offices. It is situated on Wageningen University Campus and is the home for all Research and Development activities for Flora Food Group.
The Technical Services and SHE Specialist is part of the operational team of the FFSC and reports to the Site Leader. You will be working alongside the Soft Services and Events Manager, Pilot Plant Lead, and Laboratory Supervisor, and together ensure a smooth and safe operation of all services to enable the R&D colleagues to deliver high-quality food innovations. You will manage the maintenance plans, budget, and keep an overview of all activities whilst responding to urgent issues and receiving contractors for inspections, repairs, or preventive maintenance. On top of that, you lead the SHE program, ensuring our policies are compliant and that we continuously work to ensure the safety of all employees. In addition, you maintain a local network with our campus neighbors, WUR, and local authorities on related topics.
So what are the key activities that will make you successful in this role?
You will:
- Be the single point of contact with contractors that deliver services for the building, laboratories, and pilot plant
- Be responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards within the FFSC
- Be responsible for building a long-term preventive maintenance plan and establishing key contracts for all technical installations and equipment in scope
- Collaborate with the SHE team to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Lead safety audits and inspections, including the follow-up of corrective actions
- Be in charge of small technical projects from specifications to execution and start-up
- Design and manage a multi-year plan for the maintenance of the building and building-related installations
So what does it take to be successful in this role?
You have 5–10 years of experience in technical services and/or building maintenance from an end-user or supplier perspective. You are an educated safety professional, aware of Dutch safety legislation. You have strong communication skills in both Dutch and English, enabling you to interact effectively with both external companies or suppliers and internal stakeholders. You are excited to work in an international environment, and you have demonstrated knowledge of NEN 3140, NEN 2767, and multi-year maintenance programs. IT savviness is required, and you have experience in budget management. Ideally, you have a bachelor-level education in a relevant field.
