Job Description

The Marketing & Social Media Manager will work directly with the Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Team supporting the strategic marketing direction of the hotel. A storyteller and visual marketing enthusiast at heart, this role will guide the digital and online perception of Fairmont Austin, sharing what makes the hotel and its experiences truly outstanding, engaging for guests, and visually memorable. The responsibilities for this role include guiding content creation for digital and social channels, managing paid social media campaigns, proposing and executing social marketing and strategy plans that promote revenue growth and to support the hotel’s brand positioning and image. This may include leveraging and executing influencer collaborations, working with the communications and e-Commerce teams to develop paid social media campaigns with lifestyle blogs and publications, national and local partners, and working with corporate teams and key destination marketing organizations to achieve revenue growth goals. Leads growth and development of aspiring leaders and actively participates in hotel-wide initiatives and committees in a leadership capacity.

Executes and tracks performance for internal and external social media campaigns, promotions, advertising, and websites. The position may also act as a liaison between the hotel and Accor marketing support, outside agencies, and contracted vendors/service providers (as determined by the Director of Communications).

Competencies

  • Create and implement social media strategies on behalf of Fairmont Austin that appeals to local, national and global audiences. Drive innovation and forward-thinking ideas around community growth and engagement.
  • Document and report on social account growth and engagement numbers, setting annual reach goals and developing plans to increase following and overall social media exposure.
  • Lead the development and creation of content across relevant social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and hotel blogs. As well as maintain positive presence on TikTok and X.
  • Develop and implement hotel specific paid social and digital campaigns with advertising partners and on social channels including; ad management, bid management, audience research, lookalike audiences and demographics, etc.
  • Keen eye for design for social, display ads, email marketing, internal/external flyers, etc.
  • Works across departments to support marketing and community visibility including F&B and Talent & Culture focused recruitment and awareness efforts
  • Manages business development and maintains key relationships with potential collaborators on a local and national level
  • Monitor paid campaigns to ensure they are reaching designated KPI targets.
  • Document and report on paid campaigns, showing value and ROI of programming to leadership.
  • Work directly with property teams to develop unique and engaging content that garners appropriate and quality engagement.
  • Work directly with communications team on management and development of paid and trade influencer campaigns and FAMs, leveraging local partners to maximize exposure.
  • Create annual social media marketing budget, presenting to leadership and showing viable revenue and engagement growth opportunities.
  • Show photography proficiency (self and directing photographers and videographers) and videography, with a “visual eye” that speaks to a luxury market.
  • Manage integration of social accounts with Fairmont Austin website, identifying ways to increase visibility of social accounts to potential hotel guests.
  • Viable understanding of SEO and optimization, including best practices, strategies and techniques. Able to speak to ways of leveraging social media presence to drive Fairmont Austin website traffic and increase revenue opportunities.
  • Understand and map the consumer journey to optimize opportunities that help increase booking, engagement, and meet conversion and revenue goals.
  • Optimize the user experience on all devices, keeping up to date on the latest industry trends
  • Collaborate with the marketing team (advertising, email, public relations), and revenue, distribution, and reservations team to best serve Fairmont Austin
  • Manage vendor relationships with applicable technology and marketing partners and escalate and document opportunities and/or service problems with recommended solutions

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or public relations
  • 3+ Years marketing, social media and/or public relations experience
  • Knowledge of marketing communication mediums to include but not limited to print advertising, e-Commerce, and social media
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook Business Manager and paid social media platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortability with some reel and video editing a plus
  • Excellent understanding of Canva, Microsoft Office, Word and Outlook
  • Creative thinker with an astute visual eye for luxury
  • Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to travel if necessary

Preferred Experience

  • Hotel Industry Marketing Experience
  • Photography or videography capture, editing or management
  • Events and Public Relations experience
  • Canva and graphic design program proficiency

Work Environment

  • This job operates in luxury hotel environment.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires both sitting and walking for extended periods of time throughout the day.
