Lightspark is seeking an Accounting Operations Senior to oversee and drive the daily accounting of our fast growing startup. As one of the earliest hires on the team, you will play a critical role in implementing best practices, and ensuring a seamless financial statement close process, and the success of all our cross functional partners. This role will focus heavily on managing the entire Procure to Pay (P2P) and Order to Cash (O2C) cycles, ensuring financial accuracy, timeliness, and compliance as we scale. You’ll be both detail-oriented in execution and proactive in improving processes, working closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, Legal, and Marketing. A proven ability to apply accounting principles to both existing operations and new ventures will be essential to success in this role.

What You’Ll Do:
- Own the monthly financial statement close process in assigned areas, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and the financial statement audit
- Oversee Order to Cash (Revenue/ AR) and Procure to Pay (P2P)
- Oversee our external team to manage vendor onboarding, invoice processing, and payment cycles.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Oversee customer invoicing, collections, and cash application, including working directly with the engineering team on billing systems
- Partner with business teams to streamline billing and collections processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses, as necessary
- Key responsibilities within the annual budget process
- Identify, develop, document, and implement key accounting policies, internal controls, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
- Be a key contributor on accounting related special projects.
- Identify and drive automation opportunities to increase efficiency. We want you to embrace and love the newest available tools to help you do your job!
- Provide clear, data-driven responses to financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency.
- Work cross-functionally to define and implement system requirements that support financial and accounting operations.
What We’Re Looking For:
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate accounting/ controllership or experience at a Big 4
- Prior experience in a fintech, payments, crypto, or high-growth startup environment strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience with crypto asset accounting is a plus; enthusiasm for the industry is essential!
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar) and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Ability to translate accounting concepts and accounting policies into clear, actionable insights for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while also driving process improvements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels.
