Human Resources: Employee Relations Specialist

Role Summary: As an Employee Relations Partner, you will lead on strategic programs and philosophy generation for driving a culture of high performing teams, a culture of feedback and an environment that is fair and equitable across the organization. You will provide advice, support and recommendations for the resolution of critical and complex employee relations activities. You will provide consultation and coaching to employees and managers in areas such as complex performance management, compliance and investigations, conflict resolution, employment law legislation and termination management. You will partner closely with HR business partners and the business to effectively support leaders around employee relations and respective strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with HR partners and the business, lead the development and implementation of a performance management philosophy and structure that aligns with organizational goals.
  • In conjunction with HR partners and the business, develop and implement strategies to drive a high performing environment and a culture of feedback in order to help optimize employee performance and enable continuous learning.
  • Be a thought leader and change agent with the proactivity and influence to challenge the organization to think differently around performance and feedback.
  • Lead on the full life cycle of employee relations for the region, including disciplinary issues, performance, and misconduct cases.
  • Partner with the business to advise, consult and coach around the handling of employee relations issues.
  • Appropriately assess risk, leveraging sound ethical judgement and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Synthesize detailed information to diagnose problems and recommend appropriate solutions to employee relations challenges.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and implement solutions to continually address areas of improvement.
  • Leverage strong skills in conflict resolution and mediation to navigate complex employee relation matters, fostering a fair, respectful, and productive working environment in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Streamline, update and create the appropriate level of policies and procedures to ensure consistency across the organization and a best-in-class approach to employee relations cases.
  • In conjunction with the Talent Development and Compliance Team, proactively train and support leaders to effectively manage cases within their teams and create a culture of fairness and equity.
  • Stay informed on changes in employment law and regulations, industry trends and best practices to manage and implement improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Partners to ensure a unified and strategic approach to managing employee relations cases, as well as the development and execution of initiatives and programs that support strategic business objectives.
  • Provide regular insights and key metrics to HR Partners, highlighting activity and emerging trends within their business areas and holistically across the Company.
  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of the business to effectively support with the employee relations challenges they face.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years proven history of professional HR Employee Relations solutions.
  • Experience working across EMEA, specifically Germany, Ireland, Spain, UAE, and UK.
  • Prior experience engaging with trade unions and works councils is preferred, though not required. Proven track-record of designing, developing, and implementing best-in-class Employee Relations strategies, programs, and processes.
  • Expertise in employment law, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities to be able to work through complex HR issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, taking full ownership of recommendations.
  • Strategic and innovative “thinker” who is solutions-oriented with an eye to the future. A strong balance of strategy and execution with the ability to prioritize in a challenging environment.
  • Adept in technical HR knowledge across the various HR functions such as change management, talent development and HR analytics.
  • Ability to adapt and be agile, navigate through ambiguity and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintaining a growth mindset when addressing obstacles and challenges is crucial for effective stakeholder management and overall success.
  • Excellent communication & influential verbal skills, with the ability to develop meaningful and lasting relationships with team members.
