Job Description

The Microbiology Staff Supervisor is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of microbiology professionals while ensuring laboratory operations run efficiently and effectively. This role blends people leadership with operational coordination, driving a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to: 

Team Development & Leadership

• Supervise and mentor microbiology staff, providing coaching, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
• Support group leaders in managing daily activities and developing leadership skills.
• Lead onboarding, training, and cross-training programs to build a flexible and capable team.
• Foster a positive, collaborative culture that promotes accountability, engagement, and alignment with Eurofins’ values.

Operational Coordination

• Oversee day-to-day microbiology laboratory operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with quality standards.
• Plan and manage staff scheduling, workload distribution, and overtime coverage.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, coordinating calibration and service schedules.
• Monitor workflow, productivity, and key performance metrics; implement improvements using Lean principles.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to meet project needs and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong track record of coaching teams and coordinating operations.
• At least 3 years of laboratory experience; prior work in a GMP-regulated environment preferred.
• Demonstrated success managing lab operations, scheduling, workflow optimization, and quality compliance.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a track record of building strong, motivated teams.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position Details

• This is a full-time, onsite role on a second shift schedule:
• Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, with occasional weekends and overtime as needed.
• Candidates located within commutable distance to Rensselaer, NY are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Relocation support may be considered for qualified candidates interested in moving to the area.
