About The Role

As Director of Engineering for Four Seasons Hotel Hanoi at Hoan Kiem Lake, you will be a key member of the Planning Committee, responsible for leading all aspects of engineering and maintenance operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee a team of specialists in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and comfort of our facilities for guests and employees. This includes responsibility for all hotel systems and infrastructure: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire & life safety, HVAC, refrigeration, energy conservation, interior and exterior finishes, as well as capital improvement projects. Your leadership will ensure that all operations meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and compliance with Four Seasons policies and local regulations.

What You Will Do

• Lead Engineering Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations including maintenance, repairs, renovations, and upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
• Drive Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime, extend asset life, and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
• Manage Capital Projects: Plan and execute capital improvement projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to Four Seasons’ standards.
• Ensure Compliance and Safety: Maintain compliance with local laws, building codes, fire & life safety standards, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular inspections and safety training for engineering staff.
• Foster Collaboration: Work closely with other hotel departments to provide seamless support for operations, guest satisfaction, and colleague safety.
• Mentor and Develop Talent: Build and lead a high-performing engineering team by fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
• Optimise Energy and Sustainability: Implement innovative energy-saving measures, sustainability initiatives, and environmentally responsible practices.
• Control Costs: Prepare and manage the engineering budget, monitoring expenditures and driving cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Enhance Guest and Employee Experience: Respond promptly and professionally to engineering-related issues, ensuring comfort, safety, and a luxury environment.

What You Bring

• A university degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 10 years’ progressive engineering leadership experience, ideally within the luxury hospitality or service sector.
• Strong technical expertise in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems, including HVAC, power distribution, fire & life safety, plumbing, and energy management.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee complex projects such as renovations, retrofits, and capital improvements, ensuring compliance with international and local standards.
• Excellent knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, sustainability practices, and workplace safety regulations.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and manage multicultural teams.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
• Proactive, hands-on, and collaborative leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
